		<description>Haley-
I'm looking forward to reading your book. I am also a former Notre Dame athlete, Women's Basketball, Class of 1985. After hearing about your accident, quite a few of us teammates spoke with each other and reminisced about all of the road trips we took over four seasons, all over the country. We wondered how we were so lucky after traveling so many miles, that we never had to experience an accident such as yours. Since then however, I have had to get through an accident of my own. I hydroplaned off the interstate in a downpour in October of 2006. I was very lucky to make it through with only a broken femur and bumps and bruises. After two surgeries, I'm finally close to normal, though I know I'll never be the same. One thing that I know helped me make it through it all -- from being stuck in my car for two hours after the accident, jaws of life, etc.-- was thinking about how hard I worked in the past at being the best athlete I could be to represent Notre Dame. My physical therapist told me he'd never seen anyone work harder to get back. It's the only way I know, and I think you'll understand that.

I hope you're having a great Blue-Gold Weekend with your family. I was back on campus last April for the 35th Year Women's Weekend -- cane and all. It was fantastic!

My best to you-
